This is a mini review! I need to go back and have a proper breakfast or lunch but suffice it to say – so far, so good!

Why was I at Food for Me? We were signing up for the Oxfam Trailwalker Challenge! My team and I will be hiking 100km over 48 hours through the Bibbulmun Track in October this year to raise funds for Oxfam. I’m really excited, this is going to be an awesome challenge for me and my fitness! Plus, it is for a great cause. If anybody would like to donate, to this worthy cause and support our team, please visit our team page:

I’d already had breakfast before I left for the meeting – why, oh why did I do that!? I did have pretty awesome ‘quick oats’ pancakes though, which I will blog the recipe for soon!
Luckily, my new team has a fairly good appreciation of food like me, so even though we had all eaten breakfast we decided it was probably worth sharing something to eat, especially since we were taking up one of their fought over tables for a few hours.
We ordered the fritters with poached eggs, avocado, greens and some zesty sauce which was delicious! The whole dish was great, really light, the fritters had a slight curried flavour to them. The eggs were perfectly poached. This is the simplest, most well executed dish I’ve had in a while. Would be the perfect light breakfast, or second breakfast… or pre-lunch…
The smells coming out of the kitchen were amazing, the dishes all looked really nice, the staff were friendly. I definitely want to try their fruit toast! Coffee wasn’t bad, though it did take a long time to come out – I ordered three coffees in the time we were there and they all took at least 15 minutes to arrive and none of them were especially hot. My traditional long macs in particular were only luke warm, but that is my only negative.
Can’t wait to go back and try their bircher, fruit toast, etc. Lovely place, nice atmosphere.
